1. Leather Grades

2. Construction Checklist
- ✓ Full-grain leather (ask the seller — if they can't confirm, assume corrected grain)
- ✓ Saddle-stitched or lockstitched seams (not chain stitch, which unravels)
- ✓ Solid brass or YKK Excella zips (not painted alloy, which corrodes)
- ✓ Lined or lined-to-the-sleeve (unlined jackets are summer-only in the UK)
- ✓ Repairable construction (ask if the maker offers repairs — if not, why not?)
3. Fit Guide
- Shoulders: Seam sits on the point of the shoulder. Can't be altered — get this right.
- Chest: Zip closes without strain. 2cm of ease max. Layer a shirt underneath.
- Sleeves: Cuff ends at the wrist bone. Leather sleeves don't ride up.
- Length: Biker at the hip, bomber at the waistband, tailored mid-hip.
- Collar: Sits flat against the neck. Gaping = too tight across the chest.
